Banner Public School ARP ESSER III Budget Plan
BANNER PUBLIC SCHOOL
ARP ESSER III BUDGET PLAN
Banner School faces many challenges due to COVID-19 and its variants. We have implemented safety measures that allowed us to keep our school open during the 2020-2021 school year, with intermittent school closures for distance learning. Stakeholder engagement is a regular and proactive part of our planning for the 2021-2022 school year. In consultation with stakeholders, Banner has listed key priorities for the ESSER III funding. Those priorities are maintaining safety measures that will allow in-person instruction when possible throughout the year and addressing any “learning loss” that has occurred due to quarantine of students or school closing. The stakeholders will continue to review the needs of the district to prepare, prevent, and respond to COVID-19.
Learning Loss:
Banner School will ensure that intervention is implemented to respond to the academic, social, emotional and mental health needs of students especially those students disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, including students from low-income families, English learner, children with disabilities, students experiencing homelessness, children in foster care, and migratory students.
The School will reserve 20% of the ARP ESSER III funds to address the academic impact of lost instruction due to quarantine of students and school closing. Banner has set aside ESSER III funds for extra instructional time through Tutoring, Summer School, Saturday School, and adding new paraprofessionals in the Title I program as needed. These intervention programs will address the instructional gaps that have been identified.
Maintain Safety Measures:
Banner School plans to utilize ARP ESSER III funds to prepare, prevent, and respond to the COVID-19 impact. In consultation with stakeholders, the district will utilize funds to maintain safety measures that will allow in-person instruction. The district will use the funding as follows:
*Hire New Teachers: Some of these safety measures require social distancing, therefore smaller class sizes are necessary. To accomplish this Banner will need to add additional teachers and staff.
*Purchase an additional bus to allow for social distancing and smaller routes.
*Purchase a school vehicle/van to transport smaller groups to the children’s shelter in our district, assist low income families on delivery of needed supplies.
Prevention and Mitigation Strategies:
The ESSER III funds are used to implement prevention and mitigation strategies that are consistent with the CDC and the Canadian County Health Department to reopen our school and maintain student and staff safety.
The following items have been identified as key elements of meeting these strategies:
*Purchase disinfecting/fogger for large areas.
*Purchase Mask, gloves, and cleaning supplies to prevent the spread of COVID-19
Banner will continue to have ongoing collaboration with stakeholders to review and revise plans as needed.
