Information from December School Board Meeting
At the school board meeting on December 14, the following items were unanimously discussed and approved:
Updated Pandemic Plan.
Please see the attached Pandemic Plan. This allows for changes in quarantine procedures as recommended by the CDC. This should allow students and staff to return earlier from quarantine when symptoms are present. Within this plan is a stricter policy on wearing masks and consequences for defiance. This addition will increase safety and decrease a possible hazardous environment. This plan also has virtual learning options when needed as determined by administration. This may enable in person instruction at a reduced group size to allow increased social distancing. Link to updated Pandemic Plan >HERE<
We have extended Christmas break to January 11th. This extended break will NOT include virtual learning. It does allow for more time between Christmas and New Year's Day for any possible symptoms to show before returning to school and unknowingly spread the virus. Our goal is to safely return to school for students and staff. Although your child is not required to complete any assignments or virtual tasks during this time, we have prepared a family friendly, Winter Fun Packet for you to enjoy! You may pick up a packet from our office starting Monday, January 4 between 8:00 and 2:00! Your child is not required to turn this packet in but it is intended to be an extension of educational activities and support both individual learning and family time together.
Virtual Fridays will remain in effect during second semester. This has proven to work within our overall plan for first semester. Long term virtual learning is a result of community spread and the potential of passing to other students and staff while in the school. If the community risk threat can go down, the school environment will be safer.
Banner School has a contractual partnership with Youth and Family Services for counseling students. Please notify your child’s teacher or administration if your child is in possible need of these services and we will complete a referral for counseling services for your child.
Banner School is in extreme need of substitutes! If you or someone you know would like to substitute for us, please have them contact Mrs. Stringer at (405) 262-0598.
We appreciate your cooperation and once again the grace it takes to be a team throughout these tough times. Please be reminded we are all in this together and we are not the only school in the state going through these same hardships. We are doing everything we can to ensure student and staff safety and implement planning and policies to support this along the way. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Banner Staff and Administration would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
